Interrogating Social Work’s Role
in “Nation” Building
The 2017 Conference of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education will be held at Ryerson University within the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The association conference will convene participants from across Canada for five days of meetings, sharing, learning and networking opportunities.
Focusing on the sub-themes below, the 2017 Conference Planning Committee invites students, educators, practitioners and community members to submit proposals for papers, posters, panels, and roundtables. In an innovative approach to this call we are also inviting participants to submit visual, live performance (including music), or video artwork related to the following conference sub-themes.
Art Inspired Social Change: Social Work Taking Up the Call
- Decolonizing Social Work Epistemologies
- More than Just Hours: Social Work Placements as Sites of Transformations
- Making the Link Between Transnationalism, Glocalization (a critical lens that examines links between global and local processes), Colonialism and Imperialism
- Transforming the Classroom: Supporting Critical Change
- QUEER: Re-imagining the “Nation”
