July, 2019. The Board of Directors of CASWE-ACFTS would like to update members on a change regarding the 2020 Conference. In April, 2019 the Board agreed to hold the 2020 Association meetings and Conference in Calgary, as part of the International Federation of Social Workers’ (IFSW) 2020 Conference, and in support of the co-host, the University of Calgary. Since then, the Association has received feedback from members highlighting the logistical and organizational challenges that this would involve. Factors influencing accessibility have been identified, such as the cost to attend, the commitment of IFSW to bilingualism and importantly the timing, as some Association business has to respect specific timelines (such as COA). As a result, the Board of Directors has decided to hold the 2020 Association meetings and the Annual Conference, as part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, from May 30th to June 5th, 2020 in London, Ontario. The 2020 Conference will be co-hosted by King’s University College at Western University. While having decided to remain with Congress, the Board of Directors would like to emphasize CASWE-ACFTS’ ongoing support to the University of Calgary in the co-hosting of the IFSW conference by encouraging members to attend the event and appreciates the opportunity to be involved with this conference.
