Canadian Social Work Review – Editorial Board

As part of the Canadian Social Work Review – Revue Canadienne de service social (CSWR-RCSS) commitments to decolonization, and to ensure Indigenous representation, we wish to have up to two FNMI-Indigenous positions be filled on the Editorial Board of the CSWR-RCSS. The term for these positions will start as soon as possible. One position is for the Anglophone committee and one for the Francophone committee, although language is not the main criteria for selection.

Prior publishing experience and experience in reviewing articles are important. Applicants must be members of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education – Association Canadienne pour la formation en travail social (CASWE-ACFTS) and also be affiliated with a Canadian school of social work accredited by CASWE-ACFTS. Individuals already serving on the Association’s Board of Directors, or the Commission on Accreditation, will not normally be considered.

The CSWR Editorial Board consists of eight members who are chosen from across Canada, taking into account diversity, included but not limited to regional and gender representation, and, to a lesser extent, representation from different fields of interest in social work. As you consider your candidacy, please review the constitution of the current Board to be able to identify the complementary contributions you would be able to make. The Editorial Board also strives to reflect the cultural and linguistic profile of our profession. The normal term of office is three years, but it is common for members to serve two terms to ensure a smooth transition during the regular turnover of members of the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board selects articles and sets policy for the journal, which is published twice to three times per year. Members usually meet face-to-face twice per year and all members are required to attend those meetings. All expenses related to those in person meetings, including but not limited to flight, accommodation and food, are fully covered by CASWE-ACFTS. We also hold online meetings as required to deal with matters of editorial policy and management of the journal. Most work is done via email and asynchronously.

Applicants interested in this volunteer role are requested to submit a letter of interest and curriculum vitae by email to Sophia BIONDI, Managing Editor, at cswr-rcss@caswe-acfts.ca, no later than March 5th 2025.
